1222: Set static FROM address for e-mails

What version are you running?
1.0

Describe the enhancement and the motivation for it.
Add the ability to set a static FROM address for all e-mail notifications.
This way users can filter more reliably based on FROM address instead of
subject. Also would probably help with some e-mail servers which do not like
the TO and FROM address matching.

This is something we're really not going to do, since proper threading in people's
email clients is really important to us, and it breaks that.

I would like to vote for reopening, as sometimes the smtp server blocks all emails outside it's realm to be used as "from" so If not all users are on the same domain (which happens often) then the emails are blocked.

It's better to have the threading broken, then not getting any emails at all IMO ;-)

Please think about it again.

E-mail functionality has been completely blocked now for about 2 months on my system because our IT department locked down the ability for accounts to "send from" other accounts and the new company security policy prevents me from running my own SMTP server. Their complaint is that it would enable someone to "send from" the CEO's account which is valid and points out a major flaw in this implementation.
